As part of the 14th edition of the International Silent Film Festival Manila,
we are very proud to announce that a roundtable discussion on how different nations have taken initiatives in preserving film heritage through archiving and restoration.

On December 4, at 3:00PM (Manila time) a webinar titled “Saving Memory: Making Silent Films Talk to Us” will be organized on Zoom.us to discuss these topics with some of the leading archivists from Europe and Asia.

Professor Clodualdo del Mundo, from De La Salle University Manila, will moderate the panel composed by Mr. Don Gervin Arawan, lead officer Philippine Film Archive, at the Film Development Council of the Philippines; Mr. Daibo Masaki, Head of the Film Archive of Japan; Mr. Andrea Meneghelli, Curator of the Film Collections at Cineteca di Bologna (Italy); Ms. Beatrice de Pastre, Photographic and Cinematographic Archive Specialist, Centre National du Cinéma (France); Mr. Luciano Palumbo, Filmrestaurator at FW Murnau Foundation (Germany).

The webinar will be focused on topics such as: The problems of archiving silent films; Archiving silent film music scores and narration; Color in silent films; Funding archives; and Silent films and cultural heritage. It will have a duration of about 90 minutes, half of which will be dedicated to an open discussion.
