CINE EUROPA 24:

Sept. 15-29, on demand, on https://cineeuropaph.com/

the Embassy of Italy in the Philippines and #ThePhilippineItalianAssociation are happy to invite you to watch LA MADRE/The mother, by Angelo Maresca. A story that talks about the passions, the sufferance, and the torments of a priest, his mother and one of his parishioner.

This film is freely inspired by the famous short novel written by Grazia Deledda in 1920 which dwells with the great and tragic topics of guilt, sufferance, fight, destiny.

The story was skillfully moved by the filmmaker, Angelo Maresca, from Deledda's rural Sardinia to now a day Rome, into the classic architecture of the EUR Building that that visually enhance the drama with a constant visual reference to the Ancient Greek tragedy, where everything is either black or white.

The screening of La Madre is intended to pay tribute to Grazia Deledda in occasion of her 150th birth anniversary (which will occur in September 27, during the last week of the festival).

Grazia Deledda is the first and still only Italian woman who was awarded with the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1926 and is sometimes referred to as the mother of the feminist movement in Italy.

La Madre will be screened online, on https://cineeuropaph.com/ on
