INTERNATIONAL SILENT FILM FESTIVAL Italy Film 2022

  • Red Carpet, Shangri-La Plaza Shaw Blvd, Ortigas Center, Mandaluyong, 1552 Metro Manila Mandaluyong, 1552 Metro Manila Philippines (map)

On November 27 at 3 PM, the Philippine Italian Association will present I Figli di Nessuno, Nobody's Children, by Ubaldo Maria Del Colle, a film released in 1920 which was digitally restored by the Cineteca di Bologna, under the scientific direction of Andrea Meneghelli, in 2020.

I Figli di Nessuno is a wonderful Melodramma of the working classes, set in the white marble mines of Carrara. The restored film is divided in 2 episodes: Inferno Bianco and Suor Dolore (White Hell and Sister Pain).

The film was a major success for the producer Gustavo Lombardo and the leading actress Leda Gys. Social issues and the denunciation of children's labor and workers' struggles make an appearance in big screens, which, until then, was an art addressed principally to the middle classes.

The music score of I Figli di Nessuno was composed by Mr. Pepe Manikan. He is a composer and a freelance music and audio producer for films. For this project, he assembled a team of talented musicians with whom he has collaborated with previously for various films, advertising, and other musical projects. Their aim is to unravel the soul of Ubaldo Maria Del Colle’s I Figli di Nessuno.
