The Italian entry in this year program will be PINOCCHIO (1911) by Giulio Antamoro
proudly presented by the Embassy of Italy and the Philippine Italian Association in occasion of the 140th anniversary of the first appearance of Pinocchio on Il giornale per i bambini (Newspaper for children), in 1881.
It’s the first known film that brought Collodi’s famous puppet to the silver screen.
A captivating 54-minute silent in which Pinocchio will live a thousand and one adventures, including an unscheduled encounter with the Redskins and the Canadian army.
Trivia: According to film historian Prof. Nick Deocampo, this Pinocchio film would be the 1st Italian film commercially screened in the Philippines, in 1912.
This film is presented in partnership with the Cineteca di Milano.
The screening of Pinocchio will be accompanied by the original musics composed and performed by Italian Violinist, Tullio Vidmar and his music students at the Conservatory of Music in Cagayan de Oro
